Chela is an Orlando-based restaurant specializing in Mexican-inspired drinks and bites set in a casual, but lively environment. Chela strives to be a place where you can always grab a quick bite, enjoy drinks after work, and be your go-to brunch destination.
The partners of KASA are set to rebrand, and open a new concept at its current location as Chela Tequila and Tacos. Chela will officially open its doors on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018. The new concept aims to serve delicious Mexican-inspired food and drinks, no frills – just solid flavors that everyone will enjoy.
Guests can anticipate a $15 all-you-can-eat taco menu, and a variety of drink specials at the January 23rd Taco Tuesday launch.
Chela considers itself inspired by Mexico, and the team aims to serve up bold and unique flavors. The term, “chela” is slang for beer in Mexico, and sets the casual vibe that the team is striving for.
Newly appointed Head Chef Michael Collantes, who has worked for some of the top chefs in the country such as Joel Robuchon, Eric Ripert, and Masa Takayama to name a few, will be spearheading the new menu.
Chela plans to highlight the bar selections offering a range of over 50 tequilas, mezcals, and an array of Mexican beers and craft cocktails.
The space seats approximately 150 guests with a full-covered patio. Private dining for parties up to 30 is available, as well as other event space options. The restaurant will be made up of large communal tables where groups are encouraged to gather, sip, eat and mingle with new and old friends.
Collantes is also excited to host a spotlight night with a guest chef once a month, inviting local talent to feature an original dish for Taco Tuesday.
Being a seasoned veteran in the culinary world, Collantes began his career in Orlando as the head sushi chef for Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and has since worked at various restaurants across the country, including 10 Arts by Eric Ripert, L’atelier by Joel Robuchon, and Bar Masa at Aria. He’s excited to return to Orlando, and be a part of the growing culinary community in Central Florida.
Guests can also anticipate craft cocktail creator Cole Johnson on Chela’s team leading the beverage program.
Johnson is refining his own house recipe for Horchata and Cafe Tequila (cold brewed tequila, espresso, and vanilla bean), along with crafting rotating agua frescas, and seasonal garnishes.
Brunch and Unwined Wednesday will carry over from the Kasa concept – with a new twist on the menu offerings.
